Midlothian, Illinois (Wednesday, June 23, 2010):
It's hard work to acquire a podium finish in the ASA Late Model Northern Series. Ask Jordan Sims and the Lorz Motorsports Team about all the trials and tribulations the team has gone through over the last year and a half with their Canadian driver. But now, the team is beginning to see the fruits of their labor and a Runner-Up showing in the last series race has the team riding high.
Sims and the Lorz Motorsports Team spent the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend on May 30th at the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval of Grundy County Speedway, located West of Joliet in Morris, Illinois for the running of the 12th annual George Appleton Memorial 125.
After qualifying an impressive fourth fastest, the inversion was a seven which placed Sims on the outside of the second row for the 125-lap feature. He spent the entire day inside the Top Five and after a late race battle with fast qualifier, Anthony Danta, Sims gave eventual winner, Robbie Pyle a brief challenge with two to go, but in the end, finished a career high second!
"We had an excellent run at Grundy County. I'm so happy with the performance of our team. We are just starting to flex our muscles," The 19-year-old stated. "We battled hard and came out with a good finish. I was pretty happy finishing between to veterans like that, but its time for a win." He added.
Pyle won while four-time Appleton Memorial Winner, 2008 ASA Late Model Northern Series Champion and Current Points Leader, Eddie Hoffman finished in the last podium position in third.
Next up on the 2010 ASA Late Model Northern Series schedule is the Plymouth Speedway, located Southwest of South Bend in Plymouth, Indiana is the site for Race #4 of the 2010 ASA Late Model Northern Series Schedule; The 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval will be the site for Race #4 on the 2010 agenda; The Plymouth 100.
"Plymouth should be exciting. I've never been there before, but I hear it's a beat and bang track," Laughed the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario / Canada driver. "I'm excited to see what the crew brings to the track. I have no doubt we will be fast and keep the momentum going." Sims ended.
"We're looking forward to going to Plymouth for the first time ever," Added Lorz Motorsports Car Owner, Mike Lorz. "This will be the first time for Lorz Motorsports and for my driver, it should be an interesting day for all of us."
"I think he should run good, he has rebounded very well from his accident at Toledo, he has a lot of confidence right now. I like what I see," The veteran Car Owner continued. "He had good run at Illiana and an awesome run at Grundy in the Appleton race. We were close to winning that one, so it's only a matter of time and he'll win one of these ASA Late Model Northern Series Races." Lorz ended.
At Plymouth, Sims will be behind the wheel of the #99 Lorz Motorsports Chevrolet Impala while carrying sponsorship decals from; Gorilla Glue, Sims Custom Counter Tops, M.P.H. Promotions, Jordan Sims Racing, and Lorz Motorsports.
