SIMS REBOUNDS IN RACE 210May2010Source: ASA website..
Midlothian, Illinois (Friday, May 7, 2010): After a self described horrible day at Toledo Speedway back on April 17th in the 2010 season opener for the ASA Late Model Northern Series, Canadian Jordan Sims rebounded in a huge way in the second race of the season at Illiana Motor Speedway.
The Schererville, Indiana speed plant was the site for the Run for the Roses 100 on Saturday, May 1st as Sims was looking to rebound from a terrible crash that completely destroyed his primary car in the previous race at Toledo.
The fast ½ (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval located right on the Indiana / Illinois state line was the perfect cure for what ailed the team in the season opener as his Lorz Motorsports Team pulled out the back-up car for the Illiana event and the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario / Canada driver responded with a solid fifth place finish.
"I'm unbelievably happy with our performance at Illiana. Being in the backup car I wasn't sure how long it would take me to adjust to it, but it didn't take long and we were fast right out of the gate. The 19-year-old said. (Crew Chief) Danny (Lorz) and the whole crew worked hard all day to get the car perfect. We had an excellent qualifying run but the invert didn't go in our favor.
The Canadian then continued; Starting position was key even though Brian (Campbell) won the race. The outside line moved off the start so we kind of got shuffled back. All in all it was a great bounce back for our team after what happened at Toledo.
Jordan had an awesome weekend at Illiana, Stated Lorz Motorsports Car Owner, Mike Lorz. After a after a brutal weekend at Toledo this feels like a win in front of the home crowd. He did a great job were proud of him. Now it's time to go after a win, I just know it will happen soon! Lorz continued, Grundy County is our next race and that's another one of our home tracks.
The next race on the 2010 ASALM Northern Series schedule will be held over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend on Sunday, May 30th at the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval of Grundy County Speedway, located West of Joliet in Morris, Illinois for the running of the 12th annual George Appleton Memorial 125.
I can't wait to get to Grundy County where we finished fourth last year, Sims continued. We have a great shot at winning the Appleton Memorial and I know it would mean a lot to the whole Lorz crew. I would like to thank Pepsi, Sims Custom Countertops, my parents and the whole Lorz Motorsports crew for everything. This is going to be a great season for us, he ended.
At Grundy County, Sims will be back behind the wheel of his familiar White #99 Lorz Motorsports Chevrolet Impala while carrying sponsorship decals from; Gorilla Glue, Sims Custom Counter Tops, Laird International Raceway, Winmar of Sault Ste. Marie, M.P.H. Promotions, and Lorz Motorsports.
