Sims finishes 8th at Rockford Speedway26Jul2009Source: ..
It was a crash filled event. 18 cars started the field - 11 finished. Rockford Speedway is a 1/4 mile high banked oval that is known as a crash and bang track, many cars coming away with heavy damage. The Rockford race is usually held as the 2nd night of the Border Wars for that reason. Unfortunately the Madison International Speedway race scheduled for Friday, July 24th was rained out and rescheduled for Sunday, July 26th, the day after the Rockford race. Many of the teams were at the track late last night working on their cars to get them ready for today, others switched over to the backup cars. Of the possible 18 cars, it is likely that only 12 of the cars may be ready for the Madison Race today. The race wasn't without incident for Jordan as he was involved in a wreck on the 53rd lap that caused some damage to the car. On the red flag stoppage, the Lorz Motorsports Team were able to patch up the car and change a flat tire to get him back out to finish the event. He handled the car well enough to finish in 8th position. Jordan will be running the backup car at Madison International Speedway. This is the Lorz Motorsports Ford #76 car that was last run at Rockingham on the July4th weekend by Hal Martin. The 76 car finished 9th in that event.
