The leader, Ryan Carlson, was attempting to pass the #99 car of Sims and #90 car of Kasten, when Kasten drove into the back of Sims causing him to spin in front of Carlson causing Carlson to ride up on the wall and into the billboards. It was a crash filled event. 18 cars started the field - 11 finished. Rockford Speedway is a 1/4 mile high banked oval that is known as a crash and bang track, many cars coming away with heavy damage. The Rockford race is usually held as the 2nd night of the Border Wars for that reason. Thursday marked the first night back to Laird International Raceway for Jordan in two years since he won the Modified championship. The fans gave Jordan a warm welcome back. Jordan had a good race until the 94th lap when a tire blew and he hit the front stretch wall. He was in 8th place until a restart on the 85th lap. He had a quarter track lead on the 9th place car.
